2006 - Library Wines

Vintage Notes

I spent the entire harvest waiting for the big wave of grapes to hit. To my surprise, it was a very moderate harvest. The grapes ripened gradually, with time between vineyards to allow for rest and relaxation. A rare harvest treat! The clusters were small and flavorful, a winemaker's dream. The growing season brought us no surprises, but the fall made up for it. Elevated humidity attempted to provide the noble rot a grape cluster for a home, but nothing a little sun exposure and air flow didn't quickly correct.

  • 2006 Pinot Noir

    Garey Ranch Vineyard

    Tasting Notes

An early bud break and a moderately cool growing season allowed for an extra long hang time at Garey Ranch.

This wine pulls you in immediately with its intense brooding aromas of dark fruits, black cherries, and tobacco tar. This wine is just beginning to show itself and its layered components of dark cherries and barrel spice. Soft, elegant tannins carry through from the mid-palate to a creamy, lingering finish.

  • 2006 Syrah

    Paso Robles

    Tasting Notes

This deficit-irrigated vineyard produces deeply concentrated berries comparable to the size of blueberries.

This lends the wine to aromas of white and black pepper, ollaliberries and dark plums, with touches of brown spice and hints of vanilla. A silky, opulent entry carries through the mid-palate breaking into dark cherries, blackberries, and boysenberries. Smooth tannins and smoky toast with hints of vanilla bean linger on the back palate to emphasize the experience.
